I read Isaiah 9:6-7 today and got a little giddy and even started singing in a beautiful operatic voice with various harmonies joining me (in my mind of course) the words penned. Take a look:
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

Are you with me?  Do you know where I’m going with this?  It’s almost one of my favorite times of the year…Christmas.  Woohoo!
Yes, a child was born. Yes, He is wonderful, mighty, and everlasting.  Yes, He does reign over all.  Yes, He is a man of integrity.  Yes, the Lord God Almighty did accomplish this.  Yes! Yes! Yes!
I will celebrate His birth and praise God for His truth, love, and forgiveness through the greatest gift ever.
Now, I don’t want to put stress on you thinking about “Oh, fiddlesticks, what gift do I get _____?”, “Yikes! There are so many decorations to put up.”, “I can’t get excited because I have no money to give a gift.”, and on and on.  Do me a favor….Keep the main thing the main thing.  Focus on God’s gift to us…Jesus Christ.
Whether your home looks like Clark Griswold’s or you only have one little light shining in the window, remember what Christmas is all about… “Happy Birthday to you.  Happy Birthday to you.  Happy Birthday dear Jesus.  Happy Birthday to you.”  May your gift be the gift of giving yourself to Him.
Just as the Lord accomplished this as He said He would, He accomplishes everything He says.  His Son will be coming back again.  Yep, He told us so.  Be ready.
Now, go sing in your most operatic voice the tune above. Here’s a video to help you out:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ_qIxn8VKU
Blessings to you!
