Big hair and Big fun! 1985 Strawberry Festival days.

It’s almost time for the Strawberry Festival here in Plant City.  We are the winter strawberry capital of the world, and our town transforms into a tourist area.  Back in 1985 I was selected to be in the queen’s court. We had a blast!  Each night we were meeting famous entertainers before they went on to perform in front of thousands of people. Reba McEntire, Glenn Campbell, and The Oak Ridge Boys were just a few of the country stars that we got to mingle with.  When these performs went onto the stage, the crowd would “hoop and holler” with excitement.  People would stand in line for a picture, autograph, or even a just a glimpse at these famous entertainers.
It’s always bewildered me how when people see or meet someone of fame they cry and shake with “Oh my goodness! It’s really you!” syndrome.  Really?  They are JUST people like you and me who happened to make it big.
Now, take me back less than a couple of thousand years and put me in front of The True One who is famous, Jesus, then I may be able to relate to those crying followers.
Rock stars, actors, and other famous people don’t have anything on Jesus.  He started the “rock star status” in the first century.
It seems like every time you read about Jesus He had a crowd following Him.
In Matthew 15:29-31 we read, “Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.”
Instances like this occurred numerous times in the New Testament.
When I get to heaven, will I “hoop and holler”, cry at the sight of Christ, or just stand in awe to catch a glimpse?  Who knows. I know I am a follower of Christ now, and I can’t wait to actually be with Him in Heaven and follow Him around even more and be able to touch and hear Him.
Prayer:  “Lord, help me to see glimpses of You each day.  Amen.”
Blessings to you.
