“I’m Trying” That’s the name of a new section I’m going to be posting in every now and then.
I guess I’m a little late on New Year’s resolutions, but the instances that I’ll be writing about don’t just pop into my mind on January first.  Usually when I made NY’s resolutions, they didn’t last for very long. So, maybe this will be a good thing for me.
The “things” I’m trying to do may be mundane or life changing.  Regardless what the task at hand may be, I desire to tie it in biblically.  It may be a stretch at times, but we’ll see how it all fits together in the end.
While I’ve been “trying” to do various tasks over the past couple of weeks, God put it on my heart to step it up a bit.
Last Sunday in our small group study we were studying about leaders.  Okay, the bible verses were referring to the pastors, deacons, and then eventually all Christians, but it was as if God wanted me to become a better leader in my home.
I’ve noticed that the things that I’ve already started “trying to do better” is making me a happier and less stressed person. (Not that I’m a stressed person anyhow.)
Here’s the first writing of a few more to come in the near future:
Laundry. That’s definitely one word that makes me roll my eyes.  But…that will hopefully soon change.
I’ll put a load of clothes on the wash and then toss them into the dryer all day long.  But when it comes to folding and putting them all away, well…that’s one daunting tasks I’ve handed down to my daughter, Holly. I can probably guarantee that when she grows up, she will NOT work in the laundering business.  I believe she loathes it as much as I do.  Anyhow, when she puts my stack of clothes on my bed, I used to just move them to the bench in my closet where they would remain for a while. Well not anymore! “I’m trying” to gather my stack of fresh clean clothes and put them in their proper location immediately.
It’s been over two weeks now, and so far so good.
Colossians 3:23 says, Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”  I’m trying to do my laundry chores as if I’m doing it for the Lord.  I know, it sounds crazy, but it is making me hang and put away my clothes with a joyful heart instead of a rancorous attitude.  Plus, it doesn’t really take that long to do, and when it’s done, it’s done!
No one has really noticed, and I haven’t said anything to bring attention to my success at trying, but between me and God…I feel that I’m being a better steward for the Lord.
I’m trying….
