I don’t know about you, but I LOVE FOOD!
Tim often shakes his head at me because I have to have my breakfast. He recently told the breakfast story to our kids of when we were on our honeymoon, nearly 22 years ago. We were staying at the luxurious Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, the night before our cruise. (Thanks to the parents for that stay.) We were young and not wealthy by any means. But, this girl had to have her breakfast. If I don’t get my meal, I get shaky or grouchy.
We sat down in the stunning dining hall to order. I ordered my usual French toast and drink. When I informed the waiter of my selection, Tim glance at the menu for the price, and then decided to order just a glass of orange juice for himself. My French toast alone was much more than we were used to paying at the local Denny’s restaurant. Hey, I love food!
There have been many “foodie” stories about me since then that Tim has added to his repertoire.
My love for food is strong, but there is something that I treasure even more. I’m taking a quote from Job today. In Job 23:12 he said, “I have not departed from His commands, but have treasured His words more than daily food.”
Now, I can’t say that I haven’t departed from His commands. I try to do right. I aim to follow God’s instruction. But I do treasure His words more than daily food. Really! I do.
If I don’t get my daily dose of His words, I get….shaky or grouchy, just like I do with my breakfast.
