This morning I woke up needing some “Get-up-and-go” from Jesus.  I probably got about four hours of sleep last night.  So when the alarm went off, I totally did not want to rise and shine.  (Ha!  The song just popped into my head as I typed those words.  Give God the glory?  Yes.  But rise and shine? Ugh.)
God put some “get-up-and-go juice” in me and led me straight to prayer and His word.  When I read Psalm 40:16 I saw His “morning juice”.  It reads:
“But may those who come to You be happy and rejoice.
May those who love being saved by You always be able to say, “Praise the Lord!” (ERV)
I went to the Lord first thing this morning and He gave me some happiness and rejoicing.  “Praise the Lord!” You can bet that I’m going to keep calling on Him throughout the day, as my body starts to fatigues down, for some more “get-up-and-go juice”.
But, after I pondered and praised God for verse 16, I read verse 17 from The Message translation and had to giggle at the wording, and also the reality of it all.  Psalm 40:17 says,
“And me? I’m a mess. I’m nothing and have nothing:
    make something of me.
You can do it; You’ve got what it takes—
but God, don’t put it off.” (MSG)
David’s not alone.  We all feel that way sometimes, right?  I know I do.  “Lord, I’m a big hot mess.  I need You to work a miracle in me.”
Hey, God is in the business of making things new and taking care of us.  Rejoice.  Be happy.  Drink up some “get-up-and-go juice”.
I pray God’s abundant love and blessing for y’all.
