stepsLast night I opened the door to my bedroom and it was pitch dark. I knew the steps to take to get to my side of the bed, but I still used by hands and shuffled my feet to feel my way. I made it without stubbing my toe on an unexpected object or bumping a body part into a piece of protruding furniture, but it sure would have been preferable and less apprehensive if I had a little light to guide my steps.
In Psalm 119:105 we read, “Your word is like a lamp that guides my steps, a light that shows the path I should take.” Life can be like walking in the dark. Actually, it is a lot like it. It can be mysterious, exciting, scary, a roller-coaster of emotions. Life will be this way whether you have Christ in your life or not, whether you read your bible or not, but…when you do have Jesus in you and grasp concepts in God’s word, those dark moments in life are much more tolerant and have less severe consequences in the end.
Just like I would have preferred a little light in my bedroom last night so that my walk would have been more secure and less hesitant, I do desire for God’s word to guide me in my daily life. I need it. I need Him!
I want to encourage and challenge you to read some scripture each day. Find a daily devotional book, read through a chapter each day in the bible, or even go back and read (carefully, being forgiving of all typos) journal entries in Soaking Up The Son that God has provided to me over the past four years (Wow! That long? Thank You, Lord.) Whatever and however you choose to allow God to apply a little CPR to you (Get it?…The bible is God’s breathed words.) do it daily and often. Let His light shine in and through you. Allow His light to guide your steps. You won’t regret His guidance, and it is best for you anyhow.
I pray many blessings and much JOY for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
