OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOkay, so have you made your New Year’s resolution yet?
According to the MacMillan dictionary , a New Year’s resolution is “a decision that you make on the first day of the year about the things that you intend to do or stop doing during that year.”
I stopped doing that a long time ago because I found that I just never stuck with it. I like to make what I’ll call “timely-tenacities”. That makes me feel like I’m actually accomplishing a “resolution” in a short amount of time instead of a year-long process. (*wink*wink*)
If you’re like me and fall short of keeping your New Year’s resolution, I do want to encourage you to make timely-tenacities.
Being tenacious is being determined to see something through to the end. Having perseverance is a godly characteristic.
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9
“Good people might fall again and again, but they always get up. It is the wicked who are defeated by their troubles.” Proverbs 24:16
“For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” James 1:3-4
Think about something in each of the following areas that you would like to pursue: personal, physical, spiritual, for a family member, for a friend, and at work/school/home. You may have a goal for a day or a week, for longer, or just for a moment. Write it down and make it happen.
If at first you don’t succeed in your “timely-tenacity”, don’t give up! That’s part of being tenacious. See it through.
I also want to encourage you that with each “timely-tenacity” challenge that you give yourself throughout the year, check-in with God first. When you seek His will and desire for God to help you accomplish your task, you will gain more satisfaction than you ever imagine doing it on your own.
With each area of your “timely-tenacity” strive to see God through it all. Just like those journal entries in the “Get Fit” section of soakinguptheson.com, turn each experience into a God-given-moment. (Speaking of “Get Fit”…I’ll be adding a new entry to this section this week. Stay tuned.)
I pray that you will enjoy soaking up The Son every moment of each day. -Stephanie
