Why do you walk? Is it for exercise, stress relief, enjoyment, burn off steam, or for peace? Walking is great for us, but allow me to share some illustrations as to HOW to walk.
How do you walk?
Walk in love. “walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:2
Walk in the Spirit. “walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16-17
Walk in truth. “…walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul…” 1Kings 2:4b
Walk in God’s ways. “Oh that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!” Psalm 81:13
Walk through difficult situations with God. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Isaiah 43:2
Walk with a friend. He asked them, “What’s this I hear you discussing with each other as you walk?” Luke 24:17
Walk in confidence. “Stand upright on your feet.” And he leaped up and began to walk. Acts 14:10
Do not walk in the counsel of the wicked. “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.” Psalm 1:1
Walk through those dark times. “Even when I walk through the darkest valley,I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
I can clearly recall and sing the old hymn “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”. Read these words and find comfort in knowing that Jesus is with you in and through any situation, and for those who have asked Christ into their hearts, we have the assurance of walking with Jesus in heaven when this life on earth is over. Glory!
