L3People sometimes get the misconception that if you love God and are a Christian, you must be “odd” for God. Think back on how lots of Hollywood movies portray Christians…overly stated and just plain or unrelateable and weird.
Did you know that you can share your testimony without even saying a word? Did you know that you can speak volumes about your love for Christ just by the way you live?
God desires us to be simply and honestly ourselves.
“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before Him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship Him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” John 4:23-24 MSG
We need to make sure that we aren’t only this way when we are in a “worship service”, but when we worship Him…which should be ALL THE TIME.
Recently a friend was sharing about her daughter who is away at college and her experience so far. This Christian young lady (we’ll call her Dianne) attends a college full of “creative” people. They all desire to earn a degree in arts or design. Not only are they creative in their minds, but in the way they live their lives.
Dianne has only completed one semester, but she is making a difference for God in simply being herself and living the way that pleases her Heavenly Father.
People have a tendency to gravitate towards her because of her sincere and tenacious personality. They often notice a difference about her, but can’t put their finger on it. When they recognize the fact that her speech is pure and her actions are honorable, they begin to question her. When they question her, she gives an honest answer about how she has and loves Jesus.
Dianne is far away from her Christian home, but keeps God ever so present with her. She attends a church near her college by herself. I have a feeling that that could change soon. Dianne may have a few curious friends find themselves sitting in the church pew right beside her.
We can learn a lot from this young lady, whom, BTW, is making her mom and dad quite proud. Not only are her earthly parents proud, but her Heavenly Father is grinning ear-to-ear as well. Remember…“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God.” Be true to yourself, God, and live your life with much adoration for Him.
If you’re not pleased with the way you are living your life…then change it! Don’t allow others to hold you back or bring you down. Seek God. Repent. Change your heart and life for Christ. Invite Him into your heart and desire to live the life He desires for you to have and live. God desires for you to have life and have it abundantly. Jesus said in John 10:10, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
