super bowl memoryToday all (well, most) eyes will be watching Super Bowl 50. Fifty! Happy Anniversary, Super Bowl.

While watching all the pregame hoopla, I heard the announcer state that they were going to be sharing their favorite Super Bowl moment with the audience. Well, I didn’t have to think too hard on my favorite Super Bowl moment. Forget moment…it was more than a moment, it was a whole weekend experience.

Tim and I had the privilege of going to the thirty-seventh Super Bowl to watch our home-team dominate the Oakland Raiders. And do-mi-nate they did! Wow! What a game! Go Bucs!

We enjoyed the sights of stunning San Diego with our friend, Kenny, and partook in the NFL Experience events. We were entertained by Sting, Styx, Celine, the Dixie Chicks, Michelle Branch, Santana, Shania Twain, and Bon Jovi. One of our own local, hometown girls was a Buc cheerleader at the time as well, and we watched her take to the stage/field with pride for her team. (Kayla, I know you will never forget that experience either.) When the National Anthem was sang and the Blue Angels flew over the Qualcomm Stadium, it vibrated and our hearts shook with exhilaration, and tears even filled my eyes with pride for my country. After each touchdown, and there were many that year, the crowd would go wild, the Tampa Bay flags were ran across the end zone, the players were totally elated, and you can see the smile on Warren Sapp from ear-to-ear. I will never forget the energy that filled that stadium.

Some of you may watch the game only for the commercials, others for the half-time show, to see your favorite player, or even just for the shear of the enjoyment of watching men use the talent that God gave them to play football. Whatever the reason is, do me and yourself a favor…enjoy it with friends and family, DON’T make it about race (God doesn’t see color. This isn’t about a black vs. white QB as we’ve already heard comments on the television. Ugh! These gentlemen both have good hearts and are extremely talented in their field and on the field.), and remember in the end…it’s just a game. Have fun. Be safe. Be example for those little eyes watching you cheer your favorite team on.

Do you have a favorite Super Bowl memory?

“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!” 1 Corinthians 9:24

“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:14

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
