post-it-on-surgery-day

Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. Romans 12:12

What a way to make a girl feel comfortable and like she’s surrounded by God’s grace.
Yesterday I entered through the doors at Advance Surgical Center in Tampa. When I checked in I was greeted by a precious lady with a sweet smile and a pleasant demeanor (I wish I remembered her name). Then, as I turned to sit down, there was my longtime friend and now associate pastor, Tommy Warnock. He’s always a sight for sore eyes and prays such personal prayers. As Tommy and I were chatting Tim was completing my check-in procedures. Tim noticed that that sweet smiling receptionist had positive words of affirmation and bible verses on post-it notes. He made a comment how he liked seeing those notes. So, the adorable receptionist gave Tim her “today’s thought” that she had written on a purple post-it note to share with us.

How perfect! She had written,

Be joyful in Hope

Patient in Affliction

Faithful I prayer

                Romans 12:12

I posted the note to my chest as I was called to the back. The nurses said, “You have a note on your shirt.” I told them the story and shared the verse with them.
Then, while I was back with Olga and Ann Marie (my nurses) we had wonderful conversations. While waiting for surgery, I told the ladies that I’ve got time and am a prayer warrior, and asked them if they had any prayer requests. The requests weren’t specific, but I prayed for those ladies taking care of me and the receptionist up front.
The purple-bible-verse-post-it-note stayed attached to my blanket as I lay waiting. I’d read it, memorize it, appreciate those words, and found complete comfort in God’s word and the fact the I felt surrounded by Him.
Before I was taken back, the receptionist walked by with her brunette hair in a bun and a great open smile and gave me a thumbs-up as she noticed the note still with me.
Blessings come at all times, especially when we weren’t expecting them. Look for them, or not…and be pleasantly surprised. Those ladies were blessings to me yesterday, and I hope I was to them as well.
I encourage you to let this be your memory verse for today and may it put a smile on your face:
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12
Have a beautiful Thursday and always find time to soak up The Son wherever you are.
Blessings to you and yours, Stephanie
