This is the bird's nest that was hiding in my table.

This is the bird’s nest that was hiding in my table.

A few weeks ago, I went to get the blankets out of a creative driftwood table that has a removable top, to wash them. This table is in our outdoor living area. When I opened the lid, I noticed that a bird had begun to build its nest. How precious! I thought to myself “No worries. I’ll wash those blankets later, let momma or daddy bird build their nest.”
Days would go by, and I’d open to see the progress.
The nest was finally completed, and three little eggs were nestled in the nest. Again…how precious.
A couple of weeks went by before I dared to open the table’s lid. Babies! Three precious baby birds!
I’d observe the parent taking food to its young. Nurturing its babies until they could adventure off on their own.
This morning I went to check the progress of those baby birds. When I opened the cover, the nest was empty. The birds had thrived enough to leave their nest. Precious!
Well, what do you know? God directed me to Luke 12: 22-32 this morning. Read for yourself:
“Then, turning to His disciples, Jesus said, ‘That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life – whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to Him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith. And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need. So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
Those precious baby birds didn’t have to worry. They had shelter and food, and they were adorned with feathers so that they would fly.
God doesn’t desire for us to worry or be afraid. As a matter of fact, the words “do not be afraid/fearful” is mentioned 365 times in the bible. Wait! Isn’t there 365 days in a year? Yes! So, there is a verse for EVERY DAY of the year.
Notice in those verses in Luke 12 that:

  • YOU are far more valuable than those birds!
  • You can’t add any time to your life by worrying.
  • Worrying = little faith
  • God already knows your needs.
  • Above ALL else…seek God.
  • He will give you EVERYTHING you need.
  • Do NOT be afraid!
  • God is so happy to give you ALL He has.
  • He loves YOU!!

Friend, do as 1 Peter 5:7 instructs you to do: “Cast ALL our anxiety on Him because He CARES for YOU.”
Oh, how PRECIOUS this is. And YOU are precious to Him!
“You are precious to Me, and I have given you a special place of honor. I love you. Isaiah 43:4a
I pray you have a beautiful day, laying all your worries and frustrations down at the foot of the cross. Enjoy soaking up The Son wherever you are. Love, Stephanie
