Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, had a very shiny nose.
Yep, I bet you are singing this classic song now.
Boy was that snout glowing.
This schnoz of his caused a bit of trouble for Rudolph.  He was bullied by the other reindeer.
What made them think they were better than he was?
Have you ever been mocked, ridiculed, and or laughed at?  I have.  It is hurtful, almost agonizing, and at times downright torture.
Well, guess what…you (and I) are not alone.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
There was this guy who was laughed at, beat, and whipped.  His tormenters even went beyond and had this man put to death.
Ahhh, but that’s not where the story ends…for either Rudolph nor this guy.
One night, when it was problematic to see the night’s sky, Santa (the head honcho) decided to value what others had devalued in Rudolph.  His radiant nose would be the guiding light so that a mission would get accomplished.
Wouldn’t you know it, this once outcast was now a superstar!
And what about the other guy mentioned?  Well, His name was Jesus.  “Oh, death, where is your victory.  Oh, death, where is your sting” are the words I imagine His mockers hearing.
When Jesus arrived at the official’s home, he saw the noisy crowd and heard the funeral music.  “Get out!” he told them. “The girl isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.” But the crowd laughed at him.  After the crowd was put outside, however, Jesus went in and took the girl by the hand, and she stood up! 26 The report of this miracle swept through the entire countryside.” Matthew 9:23-26
“They will hand Him over to the foreigners, who will laugh at Him and beat Him with whips, and then they will kill Him on a cross. But on the third day after His death, He will be raised to life again.”  Matthew 20:19
After all, on the third day, Jesus DID raise to life again. Oh, what a glorious day!
God (The Head Honcho…notice the capital letters in this one), valued us…YOU and me…enough to use His Son to become a guiding light for a mission to get accomplished.
Jesus IS The Guiding Light!
You see…“There was a man named John, who was sent by God.  He came to tell people about the light. Through him all people could hear about the light and believe. John was not the light. But he came to tell people about the light. The true light was coming into the world. This is the true light that gives light to all people.”  John 1:6-9
Get it?  Jesus is The True Light that John was talking about.
This was later confirmed by Christ Himself in John 8:12:
Later, Jesus talked to the people again. He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never live in darkness. They will have the light that gives life.”
Again, a comparison:

  • Just how Rudolph was loved by all, and they shouted with glee…Jesus is much loved by all who know Him, and we shout with immense joy His name.
  • Rudolph has gone down in history to be a beloved Christmas classic…Jesus is the most influential person in history.

It is my prayer that you will allow Christ to be The Light who guides you down this path called life.
Blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
