double rainbowIt had been a hot and stifling humid day. The weather had looked wicked all day.  Scattered thunderstorms were definitely the forecast for today and tonight.
This evening, just before sunset, Holly and I were sitting out in our sunroom.  Looking out the windows, you could see the lightening dancing in the sky just south of us.  We barely got a drizzle, but you knew that there was a storm close by.
I had barely gotten the words “This weather is wicked today” out of my mouth when Holly said, “Look, mom, a rainbow.”  (My family knows how excited I get about my rainbows and sunsets.)  I leapt off the couch and sprinted out into the backyard to take a picture.  Much to my surprise, it was a double rainbow.  (I like to call this a double-blessing from God.)
In Genesis 9:16 we read, “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
Well, Holly wasn’t the only child of mine who noticed the beautiful artwork painted by God in the heavenly atmosphere, Cole sent me a text to inform me of the double rainbow that he was viewing from a friend’s house about ten miles away. Precious!
Cole and I simultaneously sent our double rainbow pictures to each other.  He even sent me a video showing me how close the colors were to him.
Doesn’t that just put a smile on your face?
Well, get this… In Ephesians 2:10, we read that “We are God’s masterpiece.”  Did you get that?  You are a masterpiece when you have Christ in your heart. (Oh, go ahead and read Ephesians 2:1-10.  It will fill your heart with joy!)
A few words for masterpiece are pièce de résistance, treasure, and cream of the crop.  That describes how Christ feels about His handiwork in you.
Now, I could use those same words to describe my rainbows and sunsets, but the point is God loves you so much more than those works of art.  You are His treasure!  Relish in that.
I pray God’s abundant love and blessings for y’all.
