What impresses God?
So many of us TRY so hard to impress others.  The way we dress, who we associate ourselves with, the jobs we obtain, the amount of money we make, the cars we drive, the home or neighborhood we live in, the “trophy spouse” by our side, and on and on.
Sure, it’s nice to have certain possessions in life, whether it’s materialistic, financial status, or a “certain” look you strive for, but these advantages aren’t what impress God.
I’m not throwing any stones.  I remember, as a teen, telling my mom that I “had to have” a specific brand of jeans that were practically molded to my skin.  Everyone had them.  Being involved in way too many community activities was once on my list of “things to do”.  Absolutely, I DO have me a “trophy spouse” (in my eyes…are you embarrassed, honey? *wink*).  Yet, I can imagine God looking at me, with a smug grin, thinking, “Oh, girl.  All your activities, status, and look aren’t what impresses me. Let me tell you what impresses me…”
And so He says:

Sweet child of Mine.  I love you!  What I need for you to do is three things:  do what right in all you do, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself so serious, but take Me seriously. Love, Your Heavenly Daddy.

“No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you:  to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”  Micah 6:8

There are still times when I must take a step back and put my focus on what really makes God happy and not allow the eyes of the world motivate me and my actions.  It is a lifestyle.  A lifestyle that is eternally rewarding, yet not without troubles, but more peaceful when we walk with God.
Galatians 1:10 Please God, not man.
1 Thessalonians 2:4 God is the one who tests your heart, not man.
Proverbs 29:25 Man produces fear.  Trust in God.
Colossians 3:23  Work with all your heart for God, not man.
Acts 5:29  Obey God, not man.
You may observe these bible verses and feel perplexed.  You may think, “I need to obey my boss.”  Here’s the thing, when you make God “The Boss” of your life, and desire to please Him, your earthly boss/friend/other employees/family/etc. will take notice.  In the end, it is all worth it to obey God.
Will you?  Will you strive to impress God and not man?  Begin today by making Jesus Christ first in your life.  Make Him your lifestyle. (Click here to see how)
I pray that you will do what is right, love with compassion and loyalty, and walk humbly with God.  Amen.
Many blessings to you and yours,
Stephanie
