We ventured out early afternoon from Cudjoe Key to eight miles offshore for a fishing trip. Yellow-tail snapper were caught, and a shark and dolphin (mahi-mahi) were seen. The aqua-colored water was so soothing as the boat rocked gently with each rise of the water. It was such a peaceful feeling.
About two hours into our excursion I could see six storms brewing all around. Our Key was in the clear of the present storms. It was like a light amongst the darkness. As we started heading back inshore the six storms became four and grew larger and closer to our destination. I was standing on top of the eight foot tower as we were being chased by the storms. The ride became a little bumpier, and as I scanned the ocean I could tell that we were not the only boat trying to beat the rain.
I glanced back toward the east and discovered that one storm stayed offshore. If we would have attempted fishing near the massive marker that I had mentioned to the guys earlier, we would have been drenched by the storm.
The rainstorms coming from the south were approaching, but not before we reached the dock. We made it home safely and without a sprinkle on us.
When we were slowly motoring through the canal, Tim piped up from below and asked if I was nervous. I responded, “No, it’s all good. I was up here thinking of a devotion.” Plus, I felt confident in my boat captain and his wisdom. I had nothing to worry about.
Yes, God reminded me that we will have times in our life when things seem to be going smooth, then life’s situations can change in an instant. Storms can and will come in life. Maybe more than one at a time. John 16:33 says, “…In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” But if we remain confident in our Captain (God) He will guide us through those times. He wants us to “Cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Weather the storms in life with God.
Blessings to you.
