1 john 1:9

These baseboards seriously needed some attention.

These baseboards seriously needed some attention.

Today was a deep-cleaning kind of day.

One of my kids walked in and discovered me on the floor, surrounded by cleaning supplies, where I was wiping down the baseboards and bottom of our island. While I was down there, I went ahead and polished the legs of the barstools also. I told them, “Today I’m doing the kind of job that no one will notice, but it needs to get done.”

I mentioned that even though this job may go unnoticed or unappreciated, in the long run it makes a difference because it will help the furniture last longer. When we take care of things, they shine and just may be with us generations to come. (Much like the dining table, that I also polished, was the table I sat around when I was a wee little girl.)

The thought came to my mind that relationships are the same way.

Think about it…when you are in a relationship, whether it is between you and your spouse, or child, or parent, or friend, if you take the time to invest in it, it typically lasts longer. Yes, there are varying variables that can intrude and cause friction, but taking care of the other person in the relationship adds value and longevity to your bond.

Likewise, tie that into your relationship with Christ. Invest in this relationship. It IS the most important one you will ever have! The bond between you and Jesus will make you shine, and can and should be one that will last for generations to come when you share this kinship with your kin.

I pray that you will allow God to “polish” you and make you shine for Him.  It doesn’t matter how dirty you are…God will make you clean.  Run to Him!

“If we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.” 1 John 1:9

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Enjoy soaking up The Son come rain or shine.

Blessings to you and yours, Stephanie.
