You may have heard the phrase, “Garbage in, garbage out. Good in, good out.” I often remind my kids, others, and myself that whatever we see, listen to, read, etc. is going to our minds and will eventually come out. We are accountable for every word out of our mouth and each action we do.
The bible verse that goes with it is from Matthew 12:35-37, “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the Day of Judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Who said that? Jesus! So be careful little eyes what you see, ears what you hear, and tongue what you say.
Proverbs 3: 1-2 takes it a step further and says, “My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.”
So don’t only see, listen to, and read good, but keep it in your heart and (as a famous movie quote says) live long and prosperous.
