Each Easter my church, like many others, have a drama presentation depicting the death and resurrection of Christ. Melvia Kingen and Pete Battaglia, our drama and music directors, do a phenomenal job at bringing the bible to life through this presentation. I’ve had the pleasure of participating in it in costume before, and even when I am observing as a member of the audience, chills come all over me and tears come to my eyes when the crowd starts chanting and throwing their fists into the air, “Crucify Him!” “Crucify Him!” During my reading this morning I felt the same aches as I read this true story again in the book of Matthew. Are we really that different from the Jews who were chanting “Crucify Him!”? Every time we choose to do things our way instead of God’s way, we are grabbing the hammer and driving the nail into Jesus even more. Ugh, truth hurts. Let’s make not just good choices, but godly choices. Have a blessed Thursday.
