Seductive words. Crafty intent. Persuasive words. Smooth talker. Promiscuous. These are words you read throughout Proverbs 7 (NIV). It is a chapter dedicated to the warning against a “smooth-talking, honey-tongued Seductress”.
Unfortunately, you don’t have to look far in our world today to see this type of woman (or man) describe in Scripture. We are inundated with sights of her/him throughout all types of media. Whether it is embedded in a commercial, a song, a movie, or a book, it is out there for all to see. You may encounter this type of person at work, school, or living in your neighborhood. Unless you live in a bubble, the chances are you have been or will be tempted by someone to stray from your man or woman. DON’T!
In verses 1-5 of Proverbs 7, we are instructed to keep God’s commands, write them on a tablet in our heart, and keep wisdom and insight close. Doing so will keep you from an adulterous person.
Verses 6-23 proceed to give us a scenario of a crafty seducer.
In the final verses, 24-27, God’s Word tells us that this leads to “the road to the grave” and the “den of death”.
People, please obey God. Keep away from this type of person. Read, know, and apply God’s word to your life, relationship, marriage etc. Save yourself and others a lot of heartache and plain ole disaster, and protect yourself from an adulterous person. Guard your eyes and your heart by focusing on His Word and the sooo much good He has intended for you.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21
