Do you have a big decision that you need to make in your life? It may be about a relationship, a job, college, mission trip, or whatever. When we are often faced with decisions we like to talk it out with others. When we do that we may get differing opinions. Someone may say something out of selfishness to benefit them, another may say what they think you want to hear, and others just tell you what they would do to help guide you in your decision. Yikes! My head is swarming just thinking about all the verdicts others may have for my life.
We time and again take our thoughts to our family and friends to help guide us, but there is really only one who will truly direct us in the right way.
Why do we sometimes wait until all opinions are in before we turn to God? He should be the first and last of our consultants. This morning in Acts 5:29 I read, “We must obey God rather than men.” Then in Proverbs 16:25-26 it says, “There is a way that seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death.”
Yes, it may appear to be the right path to choose according to others and at times even our self. But, please turn your eyes to Jesus, cry out to Him, wait on His reply, get into His Word, and He will show you the right road. I would rather listen to God and end up with “the way of life” instead of “the way of death”.
Proverbs 3:6, “Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
