“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”
Abraham Lincoln
So true!
In my home, one child likes lasagna and not spaghetti, while another likes spaghetti and not lasagna. Really?  It’s the same thing just different noodles!
This is an easy issue to “get over”.  But there are situations in life when people will just have to agree to disagree.
This is an election year. (I am not even going to get on this topic.) This is definitely a time when you cannot and will not please everyone.  I just pray that our country will be led by a man that believes in and turns to the One True God.
In the “Walking in the Word” portion of the book of Acts today, Paul and Barnabas had yet another situation when they couldn’t please everyone.  There were those who hungered for more words from God, and then there were the Jews who ran them out of town and wanted to stone them to death.
There are many religious denominations in our world. I have friends who are Jews, Catholics, Church of God, Church of Christ, Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, Lutheran, etc. I’m sure we all have many things we disagree on. But I often say “denomination, shanomination” (no that is not a real word), but it is an expression I’ll use when followed by the belief that I don’t care what denomination you come from as long as you have the main thing right.  What is the main thing?  That you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He was sent to us to die for our sins.  He rose three days later, and descended into heaven a time later, never to die again.  There is only one way to get to heaven and that is through your trust and belief in Jesus Christ.   Like my former pastor would say, “Keep the Main Thing the main thing.” (Please see the how to become a Christian tab at the top of the page.)
You may not always agree with the quirky and real stories I write each day, but I hope that you do agree with me that the bible is the one true book and God is the one true god.  “God’s word doesn’t change. Every generous act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father who made the heavenly lights, in whom there is no inconsistency or shifting shadow.” James 1:17.  “I am the LORD, and I don’t change.”  Malachi 3:6.
Can we agree on that?  Oh, how I hope so.
Go be like those who hungered more for God’s word.  Go and be like those who share God’s love. Go.
Blessings to all.
I’m praying for you.
