King Herod was on a roll. He was ready to end the spreading of God’s Word. He captured Peter and put him in prison with chains buckled to him and was surrounded by guards.
I have a friend (we’ll call her Sandy) who feels somewhat like this right now. She feels imprisoned by something. You may feel the same way. Whether it is a relationship, work, your course of study in college, etc., these types of things have a way of “chaining” us down.
Well, in Peter’s case he had people “earnestly praying to God for him.” Acts 12:5. My friend, “Sandy”, will have the same scenario tomorrow. See, Sandy sent a text out to her prayer warriors. I am so thrilled and honored to be on the list. Her request is for us to pray for her while her and her husband pray and fast all day tomorrow. They are asking God to give specific direction for Sandy’s life. Asking God to open and close doors where needed, so that she can sense where God is leading her.
Tomorrow my friend will have a few of us “earnestly praying for God for her”. I will be praying while I’m cleaning, cooking, driving around, etc.. I’ll first put my face to the ground and lift “Sandy” up to God in a long and specific prayer.
Prayer, prayer, prayer works!
When Peter was asleep in prison “Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell…“Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.” verse 7.
Wow! I know God can work fast in people’s lives. Peter’s freedom was instantaneous with the prayer of his warrior friends. I wouldn’t be surprised if my friend “sees the light” tomorrow during or after her time of praying and fasting. I do believe God can do it!
Ephesians 6:18, “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”
Psalm 118:25, “Please, Lord, please save us. Please, Lord, please give us success.”
Yep, HE can do it! I pray for success for my friend. Join me. I know she’ll appreciate it.
Oh, by the way, “because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.” Acts 12:23. Ewwwww.
Oh Oh, and guess what….. “but the word of God continued to spread and flourish.” verse 24. Go God!
