“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 8:10
This past week we were traveling in the mountains.  At times there were no buildings to be seen for miles. Tall pines lined the sides of the road.  We would search for wildlife to keep us occupied during the ride.  I thought for sure I’d see elk or deer along the way. But I guess they were trying to stay as far away from the roadside as possible, for there were no elk and little deer to be seen.  I would gaze out at God’s marvelous work and thank Him for the beauty surrounding me.  (He is the greatest artist and creator EVER!)
At times, I’d pull out my cell phone to attempt text (Tim was driving) or check email.  I was actually surprised when, out in the middle of nowhere, I had cell service. What?  I sometimes have trouble receiving service when I’m ten miles from St. Pete, Florida while on Anna Maria Island. I was stunned to have the service on my cell on our way to Crater Lake in Oregon when there was nothing around except for massive pine trees and glorious mountains.
Tim pointed out to me the huge tower on top of a mountain that was allowing us to have signal. The tower was elevated to great heights.  “Aha! That’s how I was receiving the service I had.”
The further we drove away from the tall tower, the weaker the service was on the cell.  There were times when I had no signal at all.
On our way back from Crater Lake (I had been without service for a while) I was astonished by the sound of several text messages coming in on my phone.   Wow! I must be getting closer to that lofty tower.
When I read Proverbs 8:10 today, it reminded me of my in-and-out cell service.
The Lord IS my strong tower.  The closer I am to Him, the safer and connected I feel. When those times arise and I am distant from Him, I feel weaker and “my service” to others is not as strong.
I believe I like staying connected and in service with God.  He brings me so much joy and I am grateful for the opportunities He gives me to serve Him.
I pray that you will run to Him and keep your signal strong.
Can you hear Him? Can you hear Him now?
Blessings to you.
