When you want to know something what do you do? (I’ll wait for you to reply……) Exactly! You read about it, educate yourself in that area, and listen to others who know.
I have heard that if you continue in your studies as you grow older or continue to learn new things, that it is better for your health and intellect. I can’t argue with that.
I stumbled across this website that says, “Learning adds depth to your life, keeps you from getting bored, keeps you healthy, & puts you on the fast track to success.” (http://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/why-you-should-never-stop-learning/ ) I have no idea what belief system this site has, but I must say that I do agree with those four statements.
When I was involved in an in-depth bible study class on Friday mornings, before I went back to work, I LOVED how our group’s ages varied. One semester, our age range was from eighteen to somewhere in the nineties. There were widows who had ministered alongside their spouses, and those who were just ready for a fresh word from God. Actually, we were all there for a fresh word from God. We all enjoyed learning from each other’s generation and agreed that we will never know all there is to know about the bible, so just keep learning!
In today’s reading I read: “Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth!” Psalm 86:11. God is the ultimate teacher. The bible is the greatest book of knowledge and instruction that you will find on life. You could buy all the “self-help” books you want, but nothing compares to the depth of The Word. I pray that you, along with me, will yearn for more knowledge and instruction from God. His Word will “add depth to your life” and you definitely will not “get bored” reading it. The bible is slam full of drama, comedy, romance, etc. You name the genre, the bible has it.
Another bible verse that was in “Walk in the Word” today goes right along with the “keeps you healthy” part mentioned above. In Proverbs 18:14 it says, “A good attitude will support you when you are sick, but if you give up, nothing can help.” A positive outlook….I’ve got that. It may drive some people crazy, but why not be positive? It sounds like God’s Word even says that it can help me.
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9 (AMEN! Keep doing good. Stay positive!)
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34 (No worries….be happy!)
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (You’ve got that right! My strength comes from God. He makes me feel powerful, positive, and unstoppable.)
Let’s do this together…..Keep learning and stay positive.
Blessings your way!
