While lying in bed this morning waiting on my mind to finish prayers and my body to officially wake up, the song “Somewhere over the Rainbow” popped into my mind.  I chuckled to myself at the oddity of that song coming to mind for what I thought was no reason.  The one thing that the song did remind me of was the word rainbow and the true meaning of it being God’s Promise.
That song triggered my mind to picture the photo that I just view two nights ago of a small rainbow that was hovering over the waters this summer in the Florida Keys.  When I saw the picture, I smiled thinking about God’s Promises.
Then, the chain reaction didn’t stop there.  I then thought about the framed copy of the hymn “Standing on the Promises” that I have.  This was one of my favorite songs to sing in my church when I was growing up, and I still get a little pep in my step when we sing that old hymn in church today.  Verse four of this song says, “Standing on the promises I cannot fall, listening every moment to the Spirit’s call, resting in my Savior as my all in all, standing on the promises of God.” It reminds us that God’s promises are strong and true.  We need to be still, rest in Him, and listen to Him speak to us through His word and every day instances in life.
Finally, this thought process ended in God reiterating to me that when I was in my “funk” this past week (and whenever the season of dryness occurs again) that getting in His word, meditating on it and talking to God is what gave me hope and comfort.  This morning He showed me Psalm 119:49-50.   It says, “Remember your promise to me; it is my only hope.  Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles.”   All I have to say is “Amen!”
Each day I hope you will remember that God is your only hope, and that He will revive and comfort you through all situations in your life.
Here’s a verse from another old hymn that still gets me going:

God put a rainbow in the cloud
(God put a rainbow in the cloud)
Well, it looked like the sun wouldn’t shine anymore
God put a rainbow in the cloud.

Blessings to you.
