The other day I was having a conversation with a precious friend.  She is in the process of making a big decision in her life….where to further her education.  She asked me to pray.  I did and I will continue to do so.
When I read “Walking in the Word” this morning, specifically another one of Paul’s prayers, God reminded me of my friend’s decision and gave insight on how more specifically to pray for her.  It says in Colossians 1:9-10, “We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.”
I am confident that my friend seeked God’s guidance in this whole process.  Why:  Look at these phrases that she said in our conversation were:

  • “I’m waiting to see if that’s what God wants for me.”
    • This tells me that she is doing the right thing.  Isaiah 30:41 says, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength”.  She is following Christ’s example in John 6:38-40 by seeking God’s will and not her own.
  • “But I’m very excited, even though just applying was a hard decision to make.”
    • Psalm 56:11 says, “I trust God, so I am not afraid”.   God never said that the decisions we have to make in our lives will be easy.  But I’m pretty sure that when we put our trust in God and God alone, the choices we make are much easier, no matter the outcome.  She has hope and excitement in what it to come.  That is how we should all be.  When we have seeked God’s guidance, and we don’t receive the answer we thought was the right choice, oh boy…just wait and see what better plan God has.  Be excited about His plans.  And if His answer is the one we were hoping for, again….be excited and bring glory to Him in all you do.
  • “I made it (her decision) and I feel peace in my heart!”
    • “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,…” Colossians 3:15a.  Amen.  Give it all to God, and know that He is in control.

Please allow my friend’s words and God’s Word be encouraging and guiding words for you when you have to make a decision in your life.
No matter how big or small the choice is you have to make, always seek God’s will, wait on Him, and have peace in your heart.
Blessings to you.
