“You’re blessed when you stay on course,
walking steadily on the road revealed by God.
You’re blessed when you follow his directions,
doing your best to find him.
That’s right—you don’t go off on your own;
you walk straight along the road he set.
You, God, prescribed the right way to live;
now you expect us to live it.” Psalm 119:1-4
I want to be called “Blessed”. In the NLT, it reads “Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts.” I want to be called joyful! I try to stay focused on God alone as I’m being a mother of three, teaching over a 120 students, trying to keep my home “homey”, and be a devoted wife, etc. and etc.
There are so many “things” and “people” we could let get in our way of focusing on God, or we can just embrace God’s way through it all. If we stay focused on God throughout our day, I bet we’ll discover that our day will go much better. True!
When I read verse four, I’m reminded that God is the ultimate Doctor. He “prescribed” the right way to live.
I remember my aunt Joyce, who is a nurse, got on to me one time because I had a relapse from a sickness and she asked me, “Did you finish all your meds?” I sheepishly said, “No. I started feeling better so I stopped taking them.”
Just like if you stop taking your prescribed medicine before the container is empty, you could have a relapse of “worldly ways”. Unlike the medicine container that will eventually empty, when God prescribed the right way to live, His container of “the right way to live” never runs out.
Have you taken you dose of meds today from God?
Blessings to you. Oh, and be called Blessed!
