Just asking… What controls you?
I jokingly asked Tim this morning when he walked into the family room, “What controls you?” He quickly responded in a light-hearted way, “You! Didn’t you see me doing all that plumbing work in the bathrooms for you the other night.” I laughed! That was quick and funny. He knows that that comment is going straight to my journaling for today’s scripture reading.
In today’s “Walking in the Word” scripture reading it says in 2 Peter 2:19b, “For you are a slave to whatever controls you.” So, I ask the legitimate question, “What controls you?”
I’ve often heard that one should look at their bank statement to see where they spend their money. When you do, it gives you an idea of what “controls” you.
In the Merriam-Webster online dictionary it says that a slave is “one that is completely subservient to a dominating influence”. What or who do you obey? Who or what influences you? What or who dominate your thoughts, actions, and or feelings?
Romans 6:16 reads, “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”
When reading that verse it is evident that you have a choice. Will you be e a slave to sin or God? Well, that’s a no brainer! Sin leads to spiritual death, and God leads to everlasting life. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
So….I’ll pose this question to you again, “What controls you?”
Just askin’.
Blessings to you.
