I went to bed last night not knowing who the new president of the U.S. was going to be.  Tim woke up at 12:15am to turn on the television.  The presidency had been decided and the country was waiting to hear his speech.
I was not one of those who rejoiced and waited to hear the words of our re-elected president.  All I could do was sigh, close my eyes, and pray for President Obama and our country.
This morning I prasied God for giving me His Word.  As the phrase that my pastor says, “Before you see the face of man, seek the face of God.” came to mind, I was thankful that God gave me His word to turn to in times of joy and times of trouble.  The thought to observe the news last night’s events did cross my mind.  But I know that my day would go much better and more positive if I set my eyes on God first.
While reading each of the books of the bible that I read today, my thoughts easily turned to our country, our president, and the future.  When God I felt led to pray various verses for my life, I could feel God pressing on my heart ot pray those same verses for President Obama.  For example:
Hebrews 4:12-13“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”

“Dear Lord, thank You for your word that is alive and active. Pierce my mind and heart with Your love and Your teachings.  I want to meditate and waller in Your graciousness, mercy, love, and instruction. You fortunately and unfortunately know my thoughts and attitude of my heart.  Please help me to have my heart and mind on You and Your goodness.  Nothing and no one is impervious to Your Word. We can’t get away from it—no matter what. Please help to me always be mindful of Your presence and judgement.  Amen.”

I prayed that President Obama would do the same.
Psalm 119:124-126, “Show your faithful love to me, your servant.  Teach me your laws. 125 I am your servant. Give me wisdom to understand your rules. 126 Lord, it is time for you to do something.
The people do what is against your teachings
.”

“Lord, teach me.  Teach me from the textbook of life.  Show me Your love that is forever true and faithful. Even when You do show me, open my eyes so that I will recognize all the glory You give to me in all situations. Lord, I need to see You.  I see so many people turning against You and all that You represent.  My heart aches.  Please turn our hearts and minds to You and You alone.  Open the eyes of our president to do what is right for our country according to Your word. Amen.”

I prayed the same for President Obama.
As I fall to the ground on my knees praying for our country and look up to seek and know God’s plan, I am comforted in knowing that He is The King of all kings and The Lord of all lords.  He is my Authority, Whom I shall serve.
Join me, no matter what political offiliation you are, in seeking first the kingdom of God all all His righteousness.  Join me in always remembering to pray for those in government and for their discernment.  Join me in praying that our country will turn to God.  Join me in taking comfort in knowing that there is a hope.  That hope is Jesus.  Do you have hope?  I do.
Thank you for remembering to pray President Obama. May he seek God, The Creator, in every decision he makes.  May he open the one true book, God’s word, for guidance.
Blessings to you.
