God doesn’t make junk.  He doesn’t do things half way.  God is perfect and makes all things with His perfection.
So why do we have so much “crookedness” in the world? Hmmmm…that would be on us.
In Amos 7:7 this morning I read, “Then he showed me another vision. I saw the Lord standing beside a wall that had been built using a plumb line. He was using a plumb line to see if it was still straight.”  The word “still” jumped out at me.  God made things plumb (straight/center) and He checks to see if what He made is “still” right.
God has given us free-will.  He has great plans for each of us, and we have the choice as to what to do with our lives.  Are we perfect?  Ha! Far from it.  But His word gives us instruction and guidance on how to make things “plumb”.
In Proverbs 3:5-6 we read, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” Turn to Him.  Trust in God. He will guide you and make your ways right.
Also in Proverbs 16:9, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”  Allow God to determine each step you take in life.
“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.”  Ecclesiastes 3:11. If we could see from beginning to end, we just might change our ways in several areas of our lives.  Yet, even though we cannot see the end of our own story, we do know the in the end that God wins. So make sure you are on His winning team.
You read that “He has planted eternity in the human heart”, so in knowing that and using the words from Proverbs 16:9, “In their hearts humans plan their course”, seek the eternity that God has planted in your heart and strive to follow Him.
Strive to stay straight.
Strive to grow closer to and know God.
Strive to be more like Him.
When He puts that plumb line down for your life, how will you measure up?
Blessings to you!
