Prayer.  Talking to God.  I couldn’t count the number of times a day I talk to God.
Before I even tell my husband good morning or take a step out of bed…I talk to God.
Before my kids go about their day…I talk to God.
Before I eat a meal…I talk to God.
Before I drive away in my car, especially leaving out of my neighborhood…I talk to God.
Being a mother of three, one who is driving, and one more that will be driving this year…I talk to God.
Each morning, during our school’s “moment of silence”…I talk to God about my students.
Often when I see someone in a situation of need…I talk to God.
Just today I saw a friend that just by the look on her face she appeared tired or troubled. So while I was glancing her way…I talked to God.
Before anything…I talk to God.
In Matthew 6:5-14, it talks about prayer.  Not only does it talk about prayer, but gives us an example of how not to pray and how to pray.
To keep it simple:

  • Pray to God, our Savior and Creator
  • be honest
  • forgive
  • ask to be forgiven
  • give God the glory

You can pray with your eyes open or closed.  You can pray when you are all alone or surrounded by a crowd.  You can pray for others and yourself.  You can pray without even knowing what to pray.  God already know what you want to say.  It’s just good for you to hear yourself express your desires.
I could go on and on about prayer.  I’ve given a workshop about it, mentioned it before in my journaling, experienced God’s grace and answers to prayers (whether His way was what I was hoping for or not), and on and on. But my best advice is to just daily….talk to God.
Prayer:  “Lord, forgive me when I fail You.  Thank You for listening to my requests.  I enjoy talking to You and growing closer to You.  I love You, Lord.  I pray for each person who may be reading this.  Amen.”
Jesus’ example:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessings to you.
