Mark 1:16-18, “As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.
How many times have you felt that you’ve been asked to do something from and for God and you dragged your feet?  I know I have.  I’m in the middle of a project now that God has been dealing with me for about ten years. Yes, ten years!  But, I’m finally taking a big leap of faith and laying it all out on the line for Him.
When I read Mark 1:16-18 it hit me that Simon and Andrew were doing something they most likely enjoyed doing, which was fishing, and then up walks Jesus and says, “Hey, come with me.  You won’t be fishing for fish, but for people.”  And what did they do?  They dropped their nets and followed Christ immediately.
Just think…the experience they had for the next few years was amazing!  Walking with, talking to, witnessing indescribable things, and learning from God’s Son must have been an endeavor they would never forget.  Why?  All because they listened to Christ the first time.  They followed Him instantly.  (Talk about instant gratification.  Whew!)
I wonder how many opportunities I’ve missed because I dragged my feet when God asked me to do something.
Maybe we should all take a lesson from Simon and Peter and hear Christ’s voice and go right away.
Blessings to you.
