I did, have been there, do, and will…
It is a great blessing
when people are forgiven for the wrongs they have done,
when their sins are erased.
2 It is a great blessing
when the Lord says they are not guilty,
when they don’t try to hide their sins.
3 Lord, I prayed to you again and again,
but I did not talk about my sins.
So I only became weaker and more miserable.
4 Every day you made life harder for me.
I became like a dry land in the hot summertime. Selah
5 But then I decided to confess my sins to the Lord.
I stopped hiding my guilt and told you about my sins.
And you forgave them all! Selah
6 That is why your loyal followers pray to you while there is still time.
Then when trouble rises like a flood, it will not reach them.
7 You are a hiding place for me.
You protect me from my troubles.
You surround me and protect me,
so I sing about the way you saved me. Selah
I did “Selah” after reading Psalm 32:1-7. From what I gather, one of the meanings of Selah is to pause or praise. When you read these verses you realize the importance of not just praying, but confessing in your prayer time.
I love how the first couple of verses remind me of how God has wiped my slate clean of my sins and how I am a blessed girl. I am!
Then, in verse three David confessed probably one of his biggest issues…unconfessed sin. He had remained silent. He didn’t talk to God about his sins, and this caused a greater issue for him. His life became harder, and his time with God became dry. Ugh! I’ve been there.
A turn around happened in verse 5….David decided to confess his sins to the Lord. He let it all out. And what happened? God forgave him of ALL his sins, not just the little ones, but all of them! I do daily!
So now what? David’s new found freedom makes him want to just sing and praise God for saving him (verses 6 and 7). I did, do, and will sing the Lord’s praises forever!
Do you feel like your prayers are not getting to God or you’re in a dry place right now? Let it all out! God is ready to hear and forgive.
Blessings to you!
