I saw a saying today that I have often used to share with others and also remind myself. My former pastor, Dr. Ron Churchill, preached a sermon using this same saying probably about ten years or more. I thought I’d pass it along to you:
Before you speak….T.H.I.N.K.
T – is it true?
H – is it helpful?
I – is it inspiring?
N – is it necessary?
K – is it kind?
James 1:19 says, “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”
Ecclesiastes 5:2-6a says, “Be careful when you make promises to God. Be careful about what you say to him. Don’t let your feelings cause you to speak too soon. God is in heaven, and you are on the earth. So you need to say only a few things to him. This saying is true: Bad dreams come from too many worries, and too many words come from the mouth of a fool. If you make a promise to God, keep your promise. Don’t be slow to do what you promised. God is not happy with fools. Give God what you promised to give him. 5 It is better to promise nothing than to promise something and not be able to do it. 6 So don’t let your words cause you to sin.”
I hope this acronym is beneficial to you too.
Blessings to you!
