Have you seen the Capri Sun commercial with the mom doing everything for her son?  (Check out this funny commercial on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDgjJxJp6DQ)  The lady cracks me up!  This is what many of us parents want to do for our kids, but we know that they don’t need us, nor should we, do everything for them. Just like us, our children will make mistakes in life and they will (hopefully) learn from them and move on.
But when I did make mistakes or simply fall and get a booboo, my parents were right there to lift me up and set me back on the right track.
When I read Psalm 37:24-25, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.  Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”  I thought about how I wonder if at times God, sitting up on His throne, looks down and wants to just step in and do something for us.  But He doesn’t solve all our problems for us, does He?
Look at the words again… “Though they stumble,” Though meaning: although, while, despite the fact thatwe will stumble.  We have stumbled.  But if you think back on a given situation, I bet you could see where God reached down and held your hand.  He gave you a little lift.
Now, God might not have blurted out the answer to a difficult science question, or stop every ball from coming your way in a friendly game of dodgeball like the mom in the commercial, but He did equip you with the ability to solve your problems.
Remember the verse that people often question 1 Corinthians 10:13?  It says, “He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.”  But look at all the words surrounding those words in the verse that we may forget to remember…“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”  In the Message translation it simply says, “No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; He’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; He’ll always be there to help you come through it.”  I love it!  Remember it all!
Oooo, another awesome visual to have from those verses in Psalms is “He delights in every detail of their lives.”  He delights in every detail of (say your name here)’s life.
Blessings to you!
