Have you ever gone to buy something and beside the price it says, “As is”?  When I’ve seen those words I have one of two reactions.  One is that the item is ready to be sold, so maybe I can get it for a good deal.  There are some flaws, but I can make it work.  I’m up for the challenge.  My second thought may be, “Ut-oh, what’s wrong with it?”, and I may just keep looking.
This morning I read Luke 7:6, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor.” When I read this verse it made me think about how many people feel this way about themselves and think they have to wait to get their life in order before they can ask Jesus into their heart.
A couple of years ago Tim, a friend, and I were on a witnessing team from our church.  We went to a family’s home who had visited our church.  When we were talking about having a relationship with Christ, the dad said, “This all sounds good, and I would like this type of relationship.  But I’ve done too many bad things in my life.  I’m not good enough for God.  I need to do better before I ask Jesus to come into my life.”  Noooooo! Was the reaction I was screaming in my head.  But instead I graciously, with conviction, told him about how God will take him as he is.
I thank God that He doesn’t go with my second reaction that I mentioned above and just pass us by when He sees all our flaws.  God wants you JUST AS YOU ARE.  1 John 1:9 says, “But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.”  Trust Him.  Confess all your sins.  He already knows what they are.  God sees all and knows all. He just wants you to recognize it, repent, and give it all to Him.
I love watching those shows on television about buying a fixer-upper home and turning it around into something beautiful.  That’s what God does.  He has already paid the price for you and is ready to have you allow Him to demolish your old self and bring in the new.
“As is” is nothing for God.  He is ready for you and will “make it work” and transform you into something beautiful.
Blessings to you.
