Thanks for the pic, Lisa. I'm ready for LGI. 😉

We read in 1 Samuel 1 that Hannah was drunk on sadness and troubles.  But, those weren’t the only feelings she was consumed with.  Hannah was drunk on hope, and she regurgitated her sadness, troubles, AND hope through prayer to The God Almighty.

  • Eli thought she was drunk. 14 He said to her, “You have had too much to drink. It is time to put away the wine.” 15 Hannah answered, “Sir, I have not drunk any wine or beer. I am deeply troubled, and I was telling the Lord about all my problems. 16 Don’t think I am a bad woman. I have been praying so long because I have so many troubles and am very sad.”

After she gave it all to God and talked to a godly man, Eli, she felt peace and no more sadness.

  • 17 Eli answered, “Go in peace. May the God of Israel give you what you asked for.”
  • 18 Hannah said, “May you be happy with me.” Then she left and ate something. She was not sad anymore.

Those emotions of disappointment, sadness, and the feeling as she if was forgotten may have lasted for years (Why do I say years? Because we read in 1 Samuel 1:1-8 how this was a reoccurring thing that happened annually.), but joy came and God did not forget her.

  • the Lord remembered Hannah. 20 By that time the following year, Hannah had become pregnant and had a son. She named him Samuel. She said, “His name is Samuel because I asked the Lord for him.”

Let’s learn a lesson from Hannah.  When we are filled with raw emotions of sadness through the troubles we go through in life (and we will go through them, ßclick to see a plethora of bible verses):

  • hold on tight to the hope that comes from the Lord. Psalm 62:5 says, “My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.”
  • Ask God for what you want.  Pray, and pray continuously. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Always be full of joy.  Never stop praying. 1Whatever happens, always be thankful. This is how God wants you to live in Christ Jesus.”
  • Seek godly counsel and talk to a spiritual confidant.
  • Give all you praise and glory to God when He completes your joy.

Blessings to you.
