Today is going to be an extremely hard and emotional day.  Today is the day we have a church service that is not desired to attend, but God will still be given all the glory.  Today is the day we say farewell to one of the most gracious, loving, and godly woman I have had the honor of knowing.  Today is the day we attend my mother-in-law’s mother-in-law’s   funeral.
I feel that this week has been surreal.  I still can’t believe that Jany is truly departed from this earth.  I know she is in no more pain (Revelation 21:4 promises us that).  I know she is loving sitting next to the feet of Jesus. (Just like Mary did in Luke 10:39.)  I am confident that God has received a precious angel in heaven, just as she was here on earth.  But my mind still can’t wrap itself around it all, and my heart is still terribly broken.
When I read Psalm 69:13-18 this morning, I couldn’t help but imagine these being the words cried out to God in days and months to come by my oh so adored father-in-law, Wayne.

• “And me? I pray. God, it’s time for a break! God, answer in love! Answer with your sure salvation!  Rescue me from the swamp, Don’t let me go under for good, Pull me out of the clutch of the enemy;
  This whirlpool is sucking me down. Don’t let the swamp be my grave, the Black Hole swallow me, its jaws clenched around me. Now answer me, God, because you love me; Let me see your great mercy full-face. Don’t look the other way; your servant can’t take it.  I’m in trouble. Answer right now! Come close, God; get me out of here. Rescue me.”

Satan is going to try his hardest to ease his way into Wayne’s mind, and ours too.  The “Woulda, shoulda, coulda, what if” game is just what Satan desires.  He is the enemy!  But praise God we’ve got an ally that we know can and will conquer the devil! (Thank You, Jesus!!)
When those days come, and they will, and we feel like we are drowning in Satan’s mind games, all we need to do is cry out to Jesus. (Psalm 34:17)
Our Lord loves us! He may allow Satan to try to bring us down, but God is a God of mercy and grace, and He will meet us full-face and crush the enemy.  He will rescue us from our adversary.
Today will be difficult, but I know to know that God will give our family peace, love, and hope through it all.  I know that through it all, God will receive all the glory.  I pray that hearts and lives will be change for His good.  Jany would want it that way.  And as those who knew Jany knows that, pretty much, what Jany wants Jany gets. (Smile)

REBECCA JANE SHUFF, 62
PLANT CITY – Rebecca Jane Shuff, 62, of, Plant City, Florida, went to be with her Lord on June 3, 2013. Jany, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was born in Isley, Kentucky, and was a member of Plant City’s First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years, and was a former Pink Lady at South Florida Baptist Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Wayne Shuff; sons Tim Shuff (Stephanie) of Plant City, and Todd Shuff (Kristin) of Lakeland; grandchildren Hunter, Holly, Cole, Kayla, and Lindsay; siblings Lela Keith (Freeman), Jimmy Dunbar, Peggy O’Keefe (Dan), Johnny Dunbar (Debbie), and Roger Dunbar (Tanya); brother-in-law Lowell Piper; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by parents D.O. and Lucille Dunbar, and siblings Anna Piper and Junior Dunbar. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 4:00 P.M. at Plant City’s First Baptist Church, 503 N. Palmer Street, Plant City 33563, and on Saturday, June 8 at 11:00 A.M. at Lafayette Baptist Church, 5325 Niles Road, Dawson Springs, Kentucky. Interment at Lafayette Baptist Cemetery, Dawson Springs, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Plant City’s First Baptist Church Mission Fund.
