This is not a picture that shows spirit for Jesus, but it is a "spritied" photo. 🙂 Go God!

Remember this cheer…”We’ve got spirit, yes we do.  We’ve got spirit, how ‘bout you?”
This cheer kept ringing through my mind as I read 1 Corinthians 2:10-16 . If you are a true born again Christian, you have the spirit of God within you.
This spirit knows your thoughts and will reveal wisdom to you that only can come from God.  Not only reveals wisdom, but gifts that the good Lord has given to you.
I’ll never forget the day that I was carpooling to school with a co-worker.  It was during a three-year period when Tim and I had moved to Kissimmee, which is only about 45 minutes from my hometown of Plant City. So when my friend mentioned the Pentecostal church that she attended, I knew it well because it was in the town beside my hometown, and was very well-known.
My friend was bold in her faith and we easily chatted about our walk with Christ.  But then, she asked me a question that perplexed me and caused me to seek God more later for clarification.  She was asking about Tim and if he was a Christian.  I replied that he is.  Then she asked, “Is he filled with the Holy Spirit?”  I was quick, but puzzled inside, to say “Of course.”
In my Baptist church, we (I don’t recall) didn’t talk too much about the difference between being a Christian and having the Holy Spirit within us.  To me, it was all the same.  To my Pentecostal friend, the Holy Spirit was more of the feeling and wholeness of Christ within you.
I get it!  I get it now.  And, yes, we’ve (Tim and I) got Spirit!
Correct me if I’m wrong, PLEASE, but an easy way to understand this concept, and why she asked me that question, was something my former pastor, Dr. Michael Lewis, could simply put this way…there are those who may have asked Jesus into their heart because…they had to because of tradition, or did when they were young because everyone else was doing it, or whatever reason one my “just” decide to become a Christian without truly understanding.  These folks would be considered on the “wrong side of the cross”.  They thought they wanted to become a Christian, but really didn’t because it was from a persuasion aspect instead of a true understanding and feeling from God. They did have good intention.
But if you are born again on the “right side of the cross”, it is because you actually do desire to have Jesus the lord of your life, and truly believe that He was God’s only Son, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died and then rose again on the third day, and that He is coming back for us again one day. You know to know when you are filled with the Holy Spirit.  He’s your conscience, the revealer of truth, the groaning within you that makes you want to do and be your best for Christ.
I am on “the right side of the cross” and I am not ashamed to say so.  I have spirit, yes I do.  I have sprit, how ‘bout you?
Here is a website with a plethora of bible verse about “Being filled with the Holy Spirit”.
Blessings and God’s abundant love to all!
