When I see structures around town that have been vandalized, it saddens me. Just last week someone spray painted all over our high school. The words and symbols they painted were disheartening. Luckily they have been found out and arrested.
Remember in John 2:13-25 when Jesus got so upset and got out His whip because people had turned the temple into a marketplace? He was NOT a happy camper. It was as if they were vandalizing His temple.
This was symbolism of how God feels about our bodies. When you are a Christian, Jesus lives within you. Whatever you do to your body or whatever you consume into your body, needs to be honorable. You are a reflection of God’s temple.
Today in 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 I read, “Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.” (NLT).
In another translation these verses read, “You realize, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you? No one will get by with vandalizing God’s temple, you can be sure of that. God’s temple is sacred—and you, remember, are the temple.”
Just like the punk, I mean vandalizer, got caught and is paying the price for what they did, you or whoever damages your body will pay a price at some point.
Take care of your body. Treat yourself and others with respect. Be careful of what you put into and do yourself. You are a precious structure who has precious cargo inside…Christ. You don’t want to make Him an unhappy camper.
Blessings to you all!
