This picture was a couple of years ago at Relay for Life, just months before Mike's homecoming to Heaven. Now, Taryn is towering over momma. 🙂

What appropriate timing!  I’m not surprised.  God always does this to me.
When I read Proverbs 22:1 today I knew that God had given me the perfect scenario for this verse.

  • “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.”

Just yesterday I was walking down the hallway at school with my teacher-friend, Cindy.  We were heading to my room to each lunch when we passed by my precious, long-time friend, and co-worker, Laura.  Laura was standing next to her daughter, Taryn, who is in the sixth grade.  Laura is a petite person, and Taryn is already taller than her mother, with a lot more growing to go.
When Cindy and I walked by I mentioned how Taryn is getting her height from her daddy.  I took a pause and simply said, as my eyes got a little teary, “He was a great guy.”
You see, her daddy was Mike Storter. (If you go to this page to can see all the url addresses to click on to and read about Mike in many of my journal entries.).  Mike was a “great guy”. He lived an exuberant life.  All the way to the end of his battle with cancer, living was not an option, it was what he did.
After I told Cindy that he was a great guy, I had to reflect on myself and pondered the question, “If someone had to say one simple sentence about me and my life, what would they say?”
It’s not that I’m living my life to impress others by any means.  I hope that my life reflects that I’m living for God.  I’m sure I fall short of His likeness, but I’ll keep striving.
What about you?  If someone had to say one simple sentence about your life, what would they say?
I hope you live an exuberant life.  God wants you to.
Blessings and God’s abundant love to y’all.
