You’ve probably heard the expression, “Women are like crockpots, and men are like microwaves.” In our fast-paced lives that we live, many of us probably find ourselves being in the microwavable mentality. But when we often really want something to happen, it seems to take forever, if at all.
I’ve made the comment before about how “Let’s be ready! Jesus is coming soon.” The response someone gave to me was, “Don’t you think that Paul was saying the same thing back in his day?” Well, yes. Yes, Paul said it and believed it, and so do I.
Many events have happened in our world that lead me to be excited even more about The Second Coming. And, yes, I do believe that it is coming soon.
No one knows the time that this glorious event will actually occur. In 2 Peter 3:8-9 we read, “8 But don’t forget this one thing, dear friends: To the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day. 9 The Lord is not being slow in doing what he promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost. He wants everyone to change their ways and stop sinning.
God is like a crockpot, and we are like microwaves. Just like when a meal has a more flavorval (not a word) taste in the crockpot compared to a hurrily-heated (not a word, again) dish in the microwave, God’s timing will be so much sweeter than we can ever rush for ourselves.
And…notice how compassionate God is, “God is being patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost.” His timing is for our benefit.
Speaking of timing, verse 10 says, “But the day when the Lord comes again will surprise everyone like the coming of a thief.” It will be unexpected/unannounced/a surprise!
Are you ready for The Second Coming? News Flash…You are not God, so don’t be a “crockpot” on making the greatest and the most important decision in your life. Push the “express” button and decide to invite Jesus into your heart today. (Really, click on the “express” button to help you make this decision.)
In the meantime, do what God-breathed in verse 14 and 18 of what Peter wrote, “And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.” “Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Blessings and God’s abundant love to y’all.
