Yes, I am still alive and well.
You may not have missed seeing my post, but I’ve so missed journaling on a daily basis. I’ve been reading my scriptures, but not taking the time to write. I guess you could say that I was a bit of a “Bah-humbug” in the journaling department lately.
Well, this little diddy isn’t about the scriptures for today, but an incident that happened to me this morning.
I walked outside to give Tim some cards to mail. Instead of putting on my shoes to keep the pebbles out of the soles of my feet, I slid my feet into my son’s, Hunter, size 11 flip-flops. I entered back into the house, but I forgot to take the shoes off. While walking down the hall I stumbled. Right away I thought God tapped me on the shoulder and whispered, “That’s why you shouldn’t try to be someone you’re not. You may hurt yourself trying to fill someone else’s shoes.”
I giggled and had to snap a picture.
It’s not that I’m trying to fill anyone’s shoes. Whew! That’s too exhausting. I’ve tried that before.
Little did I know that God prepared me at that moment for a conversation I had with my daughter Holly. (He’s so cool like that!)
We two girls had a heart-to-heart chat and I was able to use the above analogy with her.
In Psalm 139:14-16 it says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Listen, God created you! And He did an amazing job! God has great plans for you, and wants you to be the person He made you to be, and not try to be someone else.
You know the scriptures that command us to “love thy neighbor as THYSELF”? Did you catch that last part? Thyself. God wants you to love yourself. Be happy with who and whose you are.
Just thought I’d remind you of that in case you needed it today like someone else I know did.
Blessings and God’s abundant love to all!
