Yesterday. Yesterday happened just like any other day. Yesterday has now come and gone. Yesterday was a day our family reflected on a loved one. Yesterday was my mother-in-law’s birthday. Jany would have been a young 64 years of age.
Many emotions, growth, and situations have occurred over this past year since her passing. Praise God that He was and is present through it and in all.
Tim invited his dad to the beach to grill steaks. Jany’s birthday was definitely on his mind. How could he forget it? He was married to the love of his life for forty-four years. Wayne quickly agreed and even brought Jany’s favorite yellow cake with butter-cream frosting and pink roses from Publix Supermarkets. Not much was spoken, but you could see in Tim, Wayne’s, and others’ eyes, that this day was definitely a day of remembering our special loved one.
When it was time for sunset, Tim and I pranced ourselves (ok, maybe not pranced, but rode our bikes) down to the beach. The water was so calm and the sunset was stunning. I held Tim’s hand and asked him some questions. He grinned and said that there’s not a day that goes by that he doesn’t think about his mom.
I can see in Tim’s eyes his year of reflection. I can see a spirit about him that his momma would be so proud of.
When I read Philippians 1:3-6 this morning, I thought about our July 9th. The scripture reads in verses 3 and 6, “3Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God…6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
I know that Jany is thought of often and I do give thanks to God for the wonderful memories and the traits that were handed down from her to her children. The work that God began in Jany does continue through her family.
Well, just like any other day yesterday happened. I hope that each of you will live each day to its fullest, love big, and laugh often. I pray that your heart is right with Christ so that you have Paradise to look forward to. James 4:14 reminds us that, “yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” Life is short, cherish each moment and bring glory to God in all you say and do.
Happy Birthday in Heaven, Jany.
I pray God’s abundant love and blessings for y’all.
Thank you Steph……and you did a great job on the blessing. I wouldn’t have been able.
