Vote BadgesTomorrow is voting day. It is our right, here in America, to vote.  It is a privilege that we should not take lightly. Unfortunately, situations have arisen and some get tainted by the way the political system is run. But, we need to voice our opinion and do what should be an honor to do.
When I read the verse-of-today, Romans 13:1, I must admit, I cringed. So, I went a little further and continued reading to verse three. Here is what Romans 13:1-3 says, “Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you.”
I’ve often heard, just like the saying “Hate the sin, but love the sinner”, the quote, “Even if you don’t respect the person in authority, you must respect the position.” Yes, there are individuals in an authoritative, political position that are difficult to respect.  But there are those who are doing (or trying to do) what  is right for the people in a God-fearing manner.
Last week I attended a workshop on the “Code of Ethics”. As I was participating in the online session and then in the classroom setting, I just kept saying to myself, “If people would just be kind and do what is right, life would be so much better, and we wouldn’t have to have a four hour class on how to behave in the workplace.”  Unfortunately, people aren’t always kind, honest, and do what is right.
Listen, all I know is what the bible says. Respect authority and PRAY for them.
“First of all, I ask that you pray for all people. Ask God to bless them and give them what they need. And give thanks. You should pray for rulers and for all who have authority. Pray for these leaders so that we can live quiet and peaceful lives—lives full of devotion to God and respect for him. This is good and pleases God our Savior. God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth. 1Timothy 2:1-4.
Pray. Go vote. Pray.  Respect.  Pray.
I pray God’s abundant love and much joy for y’all.
