When I read today’s bible verse, I just had to tell you about a movie that is coming out this weekend.
In 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 we classically read, “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud. 5 Love is not rude, it is not selfish, and it cannot be made angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it.” At the end of viewing the trailer to this movie the following words flash across the screen at three different times: Love is Patient… Love is Kind… Love is… (one tagline says “…anything but grey”, while the other is printed and reads “…Old Fashioned”)
I’ve been surveying people and doing my own research on the upcoming movie “Fifty Shades of Grey”. God has put it on my heart to write about it, so that journaling session will appear within the next couple of days. While reading through many responses, one lady informed me about a movie that is also debuting this weekend titled, “Old Fashioned”. I, probably much like many of you, hadn’t heard of the movie. Well, now I’m informed and excited.
It’s been called the David to the Goliath when comparing it to its competitor that is also opening this weekend in theaters.
I just want to share a little piece of information with you regarding “Old Fashioned” and encourage you to check it out yourself.
You can view the trailer, read articles and quotes from “in the news” and endorsements by clicking on this link: http://www.oldfashionedmovie.com/
“OLD FASHIONED is an interesting story that makes you think about what is important in a relationship.” Noah and Becky Hamilton, BethanyHamilton.com
“In a day when our culture is sending a loud message that refutes biblical teaching on courtship, dating, and marriage, we desperately need a film that clearly and beautifully articulates the difference that a strong faith and belief system can make in a love relationship. OLD FASHIONED is that film. We need more films like this that create cultural conversations and challenge young adults to follow biblical values—go see it!!” Mike Nuss, State Missionary, Office of Collegiate & Student Ministries, Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions
“A story that, without apology, explores the possibility of a higher standard in relationships; yet, is also fully aware of just how fragile we all are and doesn’t seek to heap guilt upon those of us that have made mistakes.” The author and director, Rik Swartzwelder, told MTV. (http://www.mtv.com/news/1885639/fifty-shades-of-grey-old-fashioned/ )
“Be sure your love is true love. Hate what is sinful. Hold on to whatever is good.” Romans 12:9
“ Love doesn’t hurt others. So loving is the same as obeying all the law.” Romans 13:10
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient and accept each other with love.” Ephesians 4:2
I hope that you will share this little David with others.
I pray many blessings and much joy for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
Great post, Stephanie.
I watched the trailer for Old Fashioned. And it’s sad to say I haven’t seen it advertised a single time while the other movie is promoted during almost every commercial break.
I would love to see Old Fashioned and will buy the DVD as soon as it comes available. It looks like what I imagine love to be.
True love isn’t a game. It’s a selfless gift to the one you love without the expectation of having it returned. To love is to be brave.
Hugs,
Karen
