There is a love or detest relationship between people and the upcoming day. Some people get all giddy because they get to dress up, go out to dinner, receive a gift, and feel the love in the air. Then you have some who dread February 14th for various reasons. Maybe they are alone due to a tragedy or divorce, and the thought of a day set aside when people celebrate their love for one another is just too much for them. You may be one who is single and feel left out on this celebrated day. There may be some, like me, and say, “It’s just another day”. I’m in love and I celebrate that every day. (Thank you, Tim, for making me feel like every day is Valentine’s Day. Ahhh, I’m sure I just embarrassed him.)
I remember one Valentine’s Day, back in 1991, when Tim and I went out to eat with his parents. We had just graduated from college, had jobs, had dated forever, and I was expecting a ring. That would be the next step, right? Dinner with his parents was NOT what I was expecting. But more than that, my gift…was a sweater. A sweater! Are you kidding me? That day was not a “love” day for me, it was more of a borderline “detest” Valentine’s Day. I love his parents, but really? (Little did I know that he had a ring, he was just waiting until the next month when we celebrate the date of our first date. Another, Ahhh.)
Well, no matter what your relationship status is with others, I hope you have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
You know…He is the only way you’re going to get to Heaven. John 14:6, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
You know…He can be the best friend you’ve ever had. John 15:13-15, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”
You know…He cares for you so much that he even died on the cross for you (Praise God He rose three days later!) John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 5:8, “But Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and by this God showed how much he loves us.”
You know…God IS LOVE! 1 John 4:8, “But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
You know…I’m thinking that a relationship with Jesus is what we all need to make sure we have and celebrate His love every day! Are you with me?
I pray many blessings and much joy for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
