“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
I can’t help but think of a couple of little “God sends” when I read these verses.
My first thought was my friend Leecy.  When I had a miscarriage, now almost fourteen years ago, Leecy knew how to comfort me.  Why?  Because she had been through that experience herself.  She came with a huge care package, comforting words, and open arms to hold a friend.   It didn’t take long to realize that I wasn’t alone.  Not just with Leecy, but many other women who had withstood a miscarriage.
Secondly, a precious friend, Krista, went through the tragedy of losing her teenage son in an automobile accident years ago.  I can clearly recall us participating in Beth Moore’s bible study, “Breaking Free”.  Krista could feel and mentioned that God was preparing her for something through this study.  Before we ended the eleven week study, she experienced her loss.  It didn’t take Krista long to realize what God was preparing her for.
When my family was tested through divorce and suicide, I could feel God’s comfort and peace all around. Yes, even in difficult situations, God can and will give you peace.  Through these two specific instances, we’ve been able to be a source of comfort to others because of what we’ve been through.  To God be given all the glory!
Think back on times in your life when you’ve been through the trenches.  Who was there to help you?  And since you’ve gone through your tough time, have you been able to be a comforter and/or encourager to someone who has gone/is going through your similar predicament? Pray for God to give you the right words or touch to share with this person.  He will.  You made it through…they can as well…with God by your side, you will make it, whether you are being comforted or being the comforter.
“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”  Psalm 46:1
I pray many blessings and much joy for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie
