find peaceOkay, I’m no interpreter of dreams, but when I woke up early this morning, I just couldn’t go back to sleep. I had a dream, and my thoughts were trying to decipher what I had just envisioned.
My eyes are filled with tears as I type just thinking about the dream and the loved ones I saw in it.
Here is a snippet of the dream that I visibly remember:
Tim and I were driving in a car. The roads were long and winding. While driving, we went through sunshine, snow, a drizzling atmosphere, and then…the weather seemed to be as it needed to be for each individual we saw.
The first person we came upon was a gentleman, wearing a captain’s uniform, walking so stoically across a golf course lit with sunshine. He was at peace. The closer we got I looked out my passenger window and began tapping Tim (while he was on the driver’s side). I said, “Paul. That’s Paul Conrad.” And we just stared.
We went a little further down the road, this time I recall that I was sitting on the driver’s side, but I don’t remember us stopping or switching positions. As we came around the bend, the weather changed. The time of day appeared to be either early in the morning as the sun was approaching or late in the day as the sun was beginning to set. There were woods. On the edge of the woods I saw a woman sitting on a cement bench. I noticed the figure and looked over to Tim to see if he had noticed her yet. I was evident that he did. We drove closer to the scene of Tim’s mother, Jany, wearing her forever worn grey sweatpants and shirt, sitting on one of her benches, and peacefully gazing out into her Kentucky woods. While she was casually sitting there, someone was walking towards her, and she gave them a hug. (I tried my best to see who she was hugging. I even tried to go back to sleep to capture that moment, but I couldn’t.)
I woke up as we drove passed Jany. Our car was always in motion.
As I was lying in bed these thoughts came to me:

  • Life is a journey.
  • We will go through different seasons in our lives.
  • Your journey may be straight, tiring, enchanting, dizzying, winding, rough, peaceful, BUT ongoing.
  • Find your peace in and through the process of whatever season you are going through. Your peace may come in an activity or a place.
  • No matter where or through what you find your peace, the only who you find your peace is in Christ alone.
  • When I have dreamt about Jany in Heaven before (three times), she was always “busy preparing”, but this time she was resting. It made me think about when God created all, on the seventh day He rested. So, in our life, here on earth, we need to find peace in those “busy” times.
  • When I think about Tim and me switching positions, I was reminded that we are never in the driver’s seat; that is reserved for God. Also, there will be (are) times when Tim will be more in control through times in our lives, and I will be at others. We are a team. I’m grateful that we support one another, and have God leading us through each season.

I pray that whatever season you are going through right now, that you will take a moment and find peace. Please know that you don’t have to go through it alone. Call upon God. He is there for you.
Find peace in the journey, and keep going.

  • You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
  • The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11
  • Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10
  • You will live in joy and peace.  The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!” Isaiah 55:12
  • Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
  • “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

I pray many blessings and much joy for you! Have a wonderful day. – Stephanie

(More thoughts…Paul was never a captain in the armed services, but he was once the leader of our region for company my husband works for. He was always dressed in a tux on our final night of our family weekend for the business. Maybe the vision of him wearing the uniform was showing that Paul felt peace and comfort in the position that he had. He always displayed a calm and professional demeanor about him when he was our regional leader.)
On the final weekend that I had seen Paul, just days before his passing, he had sneaked my phone away and began capturing selfies. When I discovered who confiscated my phone, I took a "double-selfie". Precious memory.
